Research (since 1990):

  • Atomic cluster physics

  • Preparation, characterization and application of nanoparticles and nanoparticle arrays

  • Controllable preparation of clusters and their assembled arrays

  • Optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures

  • Surface plasmon of metal nanostructures

  • Quantum transport of metal nanoparticle arrays

  • Scanning probe microscopy


Research results (since 1990):

  • Developed a comprehensive device based on gas aggregation for exploring nanoclustered beam generation and directional deposition

  • Set a new method for preparing nanostructures based on cluster beam deposition


Achievements

  • Has taken charge of over 10 national-, ministerial- and provincial-level research projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Fund, 863 Program, 973 Program and Key Technologies R&D Program (Engineering) of Jiangsu Province

  • Co-authored over 70 papers published on such international academic journals as Advanced Materials, Physics Review Letters and Journal of the American Chemical Society

  • Holding 9 Chinese invention patents

  • Won Class I of National Science and Technology Progress Award conferred by the Ministry of Nuclear Industry (1994), Class II of Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress Award (1995, 1998) and Class II of National Natural Science Awards (2011)

  • Selected into the “Triple-Three” Scholars Program of Jiangsu Province (2011)

  • Serving as a member of the International Advisory Committee of Small Particles and Inorganic Clusters (2013)
