ProfessorJiang now serves as professor and doctoral supervisor at theCollege of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Nanjing University.

Hisresearch focuses on photonic devices and physics and micro-systemintegration on the basis of silicon-based photonics and photoniccrystals. His interest in applied areas spans from opticalinterconnection, optical communication, optical sensing to opticalsignal processing. As a project leader, he has achieved the firstphotonic crystal based high-speed electro-optic modulator on thesilicon wafer and reduced the driving voltage for the first timeto the range that the general silicon-based electronic chip canprovide. This has been widely reported by dozens of media such asNature Photonics and Laser Focus World.

Jianghas proposed new concepts and physical principles of high-densitywaveguide integration and realized half-wavelength-pitchhigh-density waveguide integration on silicon-based waveguides.This has attracted the attention of Phys.org. He has made in-depthdevelopment of related theories of silicon-based thermo-opticswitches. In the early research of photonic crystals, he set up acomplete theory on several physical problems with importantapplication values, including the general solution to themultidimensional photonic crystal surface problem, sensitivityanalysis theory of superprism effect and an analytical theory ofslow light loss of photonic crystal waveguides.

Basedon these outstanding achievements, he has published about 90papers on international conferences and academic journalsincluding NatureCommunications,Physical ReviewLetters, AppliedPhysics Letters,Optics Letters,Optics Expressand Physical ReviewB.
