Research Areas: Materials physics and chemistry; solar energy conversion and utilization; photocatalysis; energy materials Profile: Zou Zhigang, with a doctorate in science from the University of Tokyo, is a professor at Nanjing University, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Changjiang Scholar and a chief scientist of the National Key Basic Research Program (the 973 Program). His research focuses on environmental energy materials and has published over 450 papers on such academic journals as Nature, Physical Review Letters, Angewandte Chemie, Journal of the American Chemical Society and Advanced Materials, with an H-index of 63. He is holding more than 30 invention patents and has undertaken many research projects, including the sub-projects of the National Key Basic Research Program (the 973 Program), Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation, the cooperation program between the National Natural Science Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the Program of Key International S&T Cooperation Projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Key Project of Technology Researches supported by the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu High-Tech Research Program. He has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award and the first prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology Award.
