He has published over 200 papers. Zhang holds eight licensed patents in China and one in Europe. He was awarded the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education (first class, 2013) and the State Natural Science Award (second class, 2015) as the third contributor, and the nomination award for 2005 Top 100 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award in China.
