Recently, Professor Hui Wei's team from Nanjing University was invited to publish a guideline review article titled “Nanozymes for nanohealthcare” in Nature Reviews Methods Primers. The article covers the design, activity evaluation, and applications of nanozymes in healthcare.

Nanozymes, nanomaterials exhibiting enzyme-like activity, have been widely applied in the biomedical field due to their low cost, easy synthesis, high stability, and adjustable activity. Recognized for their immense potential and broad application prospects, nanozymes were selected by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry as one of the top ten emerging technologies of 2022. Over the past decade, research in the nanozyme field has developed rapidly, thanks to the relentless efforts and exploration by scientists worldwide.

This article focuses on effective strategies for enhancing nanozyme activity and emphasizes the need for standardized evaluation criteria for different types of enzyme-like activities. Additionally, it details the specific aspects of nanozyme applications in practice. Furthermore, it analyzes the current challenges and limitations faced by nanozymes and provides an outlook on their future development. This article not only offers a concise workflow introduction for newcomers to nanozyme research but also serves as an experimental guide for researchers unfamiliar with the field. Even seasoned researchers can use this article to identify and address gaps in their knowledge. Overall, this introductory guide holds significant importance for understanding and advancing the application of nanozymes in healthcare, providing comprehensive guidance for researchers in related fields.
